Interview #1 Zizou

Hello and welcome to our first interview of the season hosted by the voice of the voiceless, CM Punk and the voice of professional Haxball players in Nicaragua, Yawn.

Hi Zizou, So what is your background in Haxball? How did you find the game and when did you start playing competitively?

Hello Haxball fellows. I found out about haxball through my mates at uni (yea, we were so keen on getting good grades) and started playing in public rooms around April/May 2011, In September 2011,Donny has invited me to join newly formed league which was Feed Me. By that time, Season 1 was finishing therefore I’ve signed up as a free agent and got picked by team called Deja Entendudes

How did you come up with your nickname "Zizou"? And, have you had any other nicknames in the past?

Simply because Zinedine Zidane was my childhood idol (yes I was good at footie as school),lot better than in Haxball. I used to play under Stilic or Deyna.

How would you describe your journey as a player over the years? What were some memorable teams that you have been a part of?

For most of my playtime I was player of Deja team, best kids I've met over internet. I would like to mention rising star-best striker in FM history I believe, we were so lucky to have him on our team. Usopp-underrated GK, I sometimes think that Maestro is Usopp. Donny and Tanzim, I really don’t have to refer to them as most of you will know them. We had some good and bad runs but were a mid table team. Our biggest rivals were Arriba, we had good fun and good beef with them, kept us going. There was a season where we beat them once and drawn once and I think we finished above them, 3rd in league which was best result for DEJA. In that season, I also got joint award for best assister for that season.

So Zizou, Your team DEJA have started their campaign with 4 points in 3 games, what would you say has gone wrong and what is your team going to do to bring change to this season?

I really think we had a good start to this season, beating ‘Soccerettes’ and drawing with ‘Can't score’, losing to best team in the league, ‘Channel3’. I believe we have got a lot of fantastic talent in our squad and can go far. We have got two equally good goalkeepers to protect our back, good partnership of Diesel and Swift in front...Greddy and Kofi in reserves as well. We look brightly into this season, yea, tbh it’s not that bad.

Do you think Donny has any importance in his role as ‘manager’ or is this just an attempt to save face, as he is an admin in the league or is it to take control over your decisions?

I can tell you with hand on my heart, Donny has not intervened in our squad at all, nor my/our decisions. I believe that he is one of the legends of UK Haxball and deserves to be remembered, even though he isn’t active anymore. Last time we spoke, was the last game of Season 2. Donny is one of my best friends in Haxball and friendship means a lot to me.

Your Team in season 2 finished modestly 5th, and with teams like C3,Hotshits, HKS who have strong units where do you see DEJA finishing Season 3?

Last season was a bit strange, we had some good and couple of bad games (thats why I decided not to play myself anymore, im too old and too slow for it now). We had good link up in Splash, Maestro and other players, however towards the end the inactivity got to us. I believe we could have finished in top3 if that didnt happen. This season however I believe we are capable of finishing 2nd.


Do you have any special rivalry in this league with any team or players, and why?

DEJA as a team always tried to stay neutral when possible, we are here for good banter. This doesn’t mean we don’t like to fight to get best results. There are couple of players in this league which I had issues with before however I’m too old to mention it now.

What team do you think will win the title, and what players/teams will surprise us this season in the league?

I think we all know that Channel 3 has got good chemistry when playing and the ability to win close games (see last DEJA game . I like the way Hot Shots are playing with young players, they have got ability to surprise us all.

Moving on to the Community as a whole, recently you had a lot to say about changes to current systems, you were quoted as saying the league needs more ‘streamers/commentators’ and pre-match interviews and post-match reactions  to keep it active, but what are you going to offer to help this league stay relevant?

I can help you getting rid of chuckdog, aka mani.

On serious note, we need more presence on other forums, recruiting more players. I think we could assign ambassadors of Premhax to recruit new talent.

There have been a lot of farcical decisions by the ‘admins’ regarding waivers a number of people have spoken up about this, but what are your thoughts on this?

I’m happy to help with anything that admins will ask for, from managing the site, funding, etc etc
my view on this is that the strongest teams in league should have the last picks on waivers. This will keep the league more competitive.

What do you think of the admin team, is there something they are constantly at fault for that you wish to be rectified?

It’s hard to speak about well-known people who have contributed to this but also other leagues beforehand. However I think we are in need of fresh energy, new blood which will bring further changes and new players to this league. Admin team should be re-thought, get rid of those who are inactive/don’t contribute and add new players with new ideas. There are couple of faces around who still want to fight for it

Unfortunately Donny cannot remember this incident. He has no history, his life only started when he got married.

They will be easy to find if he has them, they are the ones with GREG written inside them with the E backwards.
