Have made a few changes to the system now halves are 7 minutes each. rather than goalkeepers getting points on whether or not they keep a clean sheet (which doesn't really prove how well they played), they now get points based on how many they concede.

Key:

Goalkeeper/DM -
Clean Sheet = 15xp
1 goal conceded (full match) = 10xp
2 goals conceded (full match) = 5xp
Goal = 5xp
Assist = 4xp

Attacker -
Goal = 5xp
Assist = 4xp

Note: no more xp for clean halves

1 goal in 42 minutes isn't exactly anything to write home about anyway, I mean the top 3 players are all forwards despite the majority of the games being typically low scoring for 7 minute halves, I'd say sugar's done a good job balancing.

And iceman, the gk is tied 3rd followed by captain bus mlf. 2 more match days and they'll be on top.

It's balanced if everyone was to play full games, I know, it's just that it might not really represent the "top players" of season 4 that well overall.

As a striker:
Your team could lose 1-0 cus of an owngoal you score and you get 4 xp for playing through that whole loss.
On the other hand, you could play one half like me, score 1 goal and then get subbed. Probably win cus of that goal and you only get 5xp.
See what I mean?

This would add up and eventually the other lad will overtake me if I don't score in the halves I play, even though I'm scoring goals and he is just playing full games.
You can't just right this off as "B4D needs to make you play full games"

How r man gonna overtake me by just doing laps on the pitch for 14 mins?

To make it balanced, either reduce the cleansheet contribution or increase the goals xp to 7.
my opinion innit but srs this is a major problem u know, cnt be calling it "top players" and not making it fair for everyone to have a chance

Also ye, how are you gonna reward the gk even though he flopped in getttig a cleansheet.
If teams start to bus more, the score line will become smaller and gk's will just rek everyone in this thing.

Get rid of the 1 and 2 goals conceded xp and increase the cleansheet reward so even if they flop to get a cleansheet, they can recover if they manage to actually get one.

This way it won't encourage teams to bus for individual profits but to actually try to attack more.

Anyways I know I'll be ignored so idk why I take the effort to point this all out tbh

This leaue is competetive now, and bussing is easier said than done now.
I admit the one thing which is debatable is the xp to attackers for 1 goal conceded, 2 goals conceded.
On the other hand, conceding 1 goal in 14 mind in this league now is difficult and why should all the credit go to the goalkeeper when indeed it is 'the bus' that is keeping out the goals.

Also I don't think goals and assists should be anymore than they are now, ye you can say that a player getting 6 or 4 for defencive contribution shouldn't be more that a goal or an assist. but a player can't get any more that that 4 and 6 for defencive work in a game, whereas a striker on his day can score 3-5 goals in one match (seen it happen).

And why is mlf being top a bad thing or shocking? He has only conceded 4 goals in 3 matches (42 minutes of haxball) imagion how many goals you see during that time in pubs. And thats having allready played against teams involving jai, mad, Ahmed, yawn and yourself.

They get credit yes, but only if they play the full game.
All is lost as soon as they are subbed.

This system will favour those teams which do not do rotations, so players at teams like SOCCERRETTES, SHEEPSHAGGERS and FOX HOUND(S) will be at a disadvantage individually. Even though they may do rather well in the season.
The amount of points they will lose because of substitutions will be colossal when added up.

In terms of the balancing, the old system would be perfect if you increased the reward for clean sheets.

The concept of a GK getting a huge amount like 12 XP even though they conceded is a bit unfair.
Regardless of the longer game times, he conceded but is still rewarded?
Scrap that and make the cleansheet xp bigger, like 25.

With this new rule of extra points for full game contributions, you're basically deterring players from doing rotations, so how are we meant to give the newer players game time when it will compromise our very own stats?
Especially the GK.

Maybe should add some points for winning a half as a player regardless of position or contributing to a victory too @sugar, since doc did at least make one valid point in his post

Sooo as i understand your comment you're going to alter the old leaderboard to reflect the new points system? If i've understood that correctly, not entirely convinced it's worthwhile/'logical' tbh?

I think no matter what you do, the all time leaderboard is always going to be a 'mess', ie. unrepresentative. Unless it's calculated on exp/minutes played, and even then it's still never going to give a true and fair representation (sos i am an accountant ya know xD).

Would it not be better just to not alter the passed data? So whilst it will not give a true and fair view of exp/minutes played, it will still give a true and fair representation of exp earned, as per the conditions set in that each period. Perhaps instead show "total exp" in table form with a break down of exp earned in each season and ordered in descending order of total exp.

This to me would seem a far simpler solution to treating historical data ... but i have had a lot of coffee today, and i'm not very familiar with the system and it's mechanisms anyway ... So i'm sure ya know what you're doing Thumb Up

Think the goal malarkey makes sense tbh, as a GK is unlikely to get tooo many goals/assists, and conceding just 1 goal means you get next to no exp, even if ya conceded just once in 14 mins ^^

tbh its impossible 2 have an accurate system, like u sed cacca cud be man of the match, nd he wud get less points than a gk who kept clean sheet , but was useless at keeping possession. the most accurate way 2 do a points system wud be for the admins to rate in order the 3 most useful players in that match,nd give them points in their order of 1st 2nd 3rd

Let's look at how the old system would compare an offencive and defencive gk.
Let's say our offencive gk is cacca and his team win 5-2 and he gets 2 assists, he would get 14xp.
And a gk like maestro gets a clean sheet in a 2-0 win and gets 18xp.
I would say scoring like that is pretty fair as maestro achieves the ultimate goal is keeping a clean sheet while cacca is not too far behind after conceding 2 but playing vital part in attack in securing the win.
Obviously this thing isn't going to be 100% accurate, it's not real life, it's suppose to give an idea of who is playing best and tbf it's better better than the old system in my opinion and others anyway and ofc better than no system at all.

won't this just make teams camp more though?
imo the keeper who came out and was part of the attack deserves more credit and is the better player, as oppose to the GK who just handcuffed himself to the goal post
