Freznez Conference
1(2) HK Stalingrad - With Ren not forgetting about when the draft was this season, HKS have come out of the draft with a formidable lineup. ogre was a vital keep by Ren, as his skill in GK is in my opinion the best in the league (sans a Jai playing to his best) and it is from here that Ren has built the team around. Picking up Element late in the first round may in hindsight be the pickup of the draft, as his skill was clearly shown last season, and the constraints of him only being able to play half the matches are now gone - if him and ogre hit it off then they could easily demolish everyone in their path. What in my opinion is the best starting lineup in the league is rounded off by Seba, whose stock has risen considerably from his performances last season. Aitor is a player highly rated but I have not seen too often, so I'll pass judgement on him. Stringer is a player who I very much expected to go earlier in the draft, as he has not only proven his individual skill in 1v1 tournaments but certainly knows how to apply this to a league game context. Redstar I have also not seen, here's hoping that he learns from his more experienced teammates and sticks about in the league for seasons to come. Ren himself rounds off the team, providing a suitable backup if ogre is unavailable, and as he proved in the latter stages of last season, can do a job himself up front. In my mind there is little doubt of their ability to reach the playoffs, but whether they have they'll have the bottle to perform to their best ability in high-pressured matches is not as much of a forgone conclusion - Ren has been the captain of many a team with potential to go on to win titles and none in any of the major leagues has actually achieved their potential. Maybe this is the season for it all to change, certainly HKS is looking like a team that can not only win their matches but win them with style.
2(3) L8 Unseen - It never quite happened for L8 last season, but I think this time around they have a much better chance of success. Captain Swie I think shocked everyone last season with his performances, and with him now playing in FM you can expect him to continue his improvement as a player. Kamina in flashes last season showed the ability that he does have, the ability that helped C3 in season 3 to an undisputed destruction of the league; surrounded by better team-mates this time around expect him to perform nearer to his brilliant best. Tuntija went from a player who was underrated to being a vital part of Sheepshaggers title winning campaign of last season and now deservedly a first round pick - should he create chemistry with his teammates expect him to be one of the top scorers of the entire league. Zola is one of the most consistent GKs in the league, and while he was not able to fully show his skills last season I can see him being a big part of L8's success this time around. I would be lying if I said I knew much about Chaos or Fear and it does seem as if they will play backup roles to the aforementioned 4. Maybe it is somewhat of a controversial opinion to predict them to reach the playoffs but I have belief in this team that they can do it.
3(4) Let the Games Begin - The elephant in the room of course is the fact that aeRo was not reunited with his bumchum and partner in crime Maddude. Another surprise for some may have been Mad passing up the chance to reunite with Jai, as he instead has stuck to what he promised in his captain application and given the chance to the best of the upcoming UK talent. Q once again goes in the first round and it appears as if this will be his first season as the undisputed #1 GK in his team, and maybe it will be this time around that he proves why he is rated by so many in the league as one of, if not the exciting prospect in the league. Lest we forget that under Mad's tutelage both Bad Ass last season and Jai many moons ago went from average players to league champions. Beninho comes in as the first pick in the 2nd round, and similar to Q it seems that this will be his season to prove his admirers right in what appears to be a starting spot in Mad's side. His attitude and commitment will provide a perfect platform for him to enter in at the top of the goals and assists charts. Bliz, while being unproven in premhax, is an incredibly skillful player who could easily form a great partnership with Mad. Diesel and Jovetic fill out the rest of the squad, and are solid players in their own right which will allow for the team to be able to field a competitive lineup regardless of who is played. Last and certainly not least, Maddude himself. While at the start of last season there would have been little debate as to whether he was the best player in the league, his performances last season in essentially dragging Sheepshaggers to their first title cemented his position as not only being the best player in the league, but the best player by a considerable enough margin. However, when it comes to actually performing in the league I think there are some unresolved questions that need to be answered for them to reach the playoffs. Notable absences with Mad and Bliz may prove to be crucial in what will be an incredibly tight top 4 in the Freznez conference. Indeed, aside from Mad himself there is nobody who has seen and done it all before, and this lack of experience, even if they were to qualify for the playoffs could prove to be their eventual downfall. Indeed, if Mad himself is not to play himself every game, which may not even be the case, it is hard to find reasons as to why they will be beating teams like HKS and L8. But of course, Mad has proved us sceptics wrong before.
4(5) Deja Entendudes - With Zizou finally assuming his position in the dugout oncemore, we have the Duo of Stefan and Ahmed who lead DEJA into the new Season. Enough has been written and said about Stefan before - he is a player more than maybe anyone else in the division that will guarantee you goals. Ahmed is a versatile player who himself is one of the better players in the league, and his understanding with Stefan is going to be vital. eWa# I know play for BANKS' team in FM which so far are looking very successful. While I've not recently seen him in a 3v3 context, for Stefan to pick him over many other proven players I suppose in itself shows his worth. I've not seen mirko but using similar logic I predict him to certainly be a useful player for Stefan. I feel like i've never really seen UK play much actual haxball, so i've not much to say about him. I suppose I've not much to say about this team aside from the fact that I do predict them to be in the running for the playoffs, and do expect them to punish any team that falls off the pace. Maybe it is the disappointing campaign of last season that makes me not feel to confident that they'll be able to reach the playoffs. Saying this, it is a common theme not only in Premhax history but in Galaxy and Haxleague that the very best teams do have a small close-knit squad, so maybe this team will be the surprise of the season. Time will tell.
5(11) The Flying Peacocks - While I would be surprised if TFP or Pelicans finish anywhere different than the bottom 2 spots, this is more to say that the rest of the league looks stronger than in previous seasons than to say that either team has a poor lineup. deStorm was a top player in the past and from what I've heard he's still largely the player he was, and with him being picked first it certainly suggests that Jds has confidence in him. dale is another player that was highly skilled a few years ago, and from what I've seen he's still got most of those skills. Nacho and Vaqq are both a cut above your average pub player, but are both unproven in the league and whose activity can be questioned. Ton is a player I know nothing about, but here's hoping he can learn a few things throughout the season. Of course, the main reason for Jds getting captaincy was the activity and stability that he brings, which is true also on the hax field. However, overall I just don't see anything too special in their squad, and unless there is a collapse by any of the teams predicted above them I expect them to come 5th.
6(12) Pelicans - Nub as a first round pick was likely the shock of the draft. While as a player he knows all of the bounces, I'd ask major questions on his actual application to the 3v3 game, as most of the time, the simple pass is the most effective one. CHE is a good player who after apparently fixing his ping problem will hopefully be able to prove his worth more this season. Speaks is similarly a good goalkeeper, who after departing DEJA midway through last season will hope to get back to his best. Mart and kol are some of the picks of the rookie pool, and hopefully they can follow the path of other rookies to have success in the league this season. Rachel also plays for this team. Overall, well, this seems like a quintessential hesur team, and due to this I don't really see them being much match for a strong Freznez conference.
Tanzim conference coming soon, excuse any spelling mistakes etc.
Tanzim Conference
1(1) Can't Score - As ever I am not-so-quietly confident about my own teams chances of success this season. I retained giggs which may have been a surprise to some but having him as a grounding influence in the team, this being his 3rd season at the club, is incredibly important and as he is ever-improving I hope he can continue to prove his worth in the squad. I managed to pick up Alekos in the first round and I couldn't be happier, he is one of the select few (as well as deer) who have won FM div 1 that currently play in the league, and from the few fs i've played with him I can safely say that getting him may prove to be one of the best picks in the entire draft. I was also pleased to pick up Swift, who despite being quite a divisive character, I've seen what he is capable of and certainly in 3v3 he has the skill and tactical awareness, if given the gametime and if he is active and committed, then he can rip up the league. Twigg offers a different style from Alekos or Swift, being more of what can be described as a 'midfielder' rather than an all-out attacker. The closest player I can describe him to is the late jonnyynnoj, which if you have seen him play then you will know is very high praise indeed. Knucklez did not have the best season last time around, but I know he has the raw ability to be great, and here's hoping he can prove himself. The squad is rounded out with dooms, who has not played for a while, but many moons ago he was an unstoppable force in both Galaxy and Haxleague and if he were to recapture his form could do an important job for the team. A weakness of the team may be with the lack of a backup GK to myself, but hopefully I will be active enough as to were this is not affect the team as a whole. I consider us to be favourites for a somewhat weaker Tanzim conference.
2(6) Guard Dogs - The rest of the teams in this division are not separated by much in my opinion - in reality I can see any of the next 5 teams having a reasonable chance of making the playoffs. As it is, I think CM Punk's team after their dramatic improvement near the middle of last season are the team which I'm tentatively putting in the 2nd place spot. Mata was the main reason for this change, as his skill and creativity in the GK position was invaluable for the team last season, and I predict a similar story this time around. Punk himself and Cazorla return, both being good players in their own right, with Cazorla in particular having a bright future ahead of him. The rest of the team have not been seen in Premhax before so it is somewhat hard to say how they'll do. Ever I've been told is looking good, and I've heard many rate ozo_jaa as being one of the better players in the draft. I've little information on Slayer or Eriksen, so I can't really predict how well they'll do for Guard Dogs. By now Punk has proven himself to be a committed and fair captain, and this will be important for his team in their pursuit of a playoff spot.
3(7) Soccerettes - Returning for their 5th season with MrP as captain, Socs can be pleased with who they managed to draft. saviola and holtby may have had an unfortunate season 4, but they both are good players and so expect them to find their feet again this time around. They are added to the solid base of MrP, who I rate highly as likely one of the best players in the conference and Ghost who despite his age is no slouch either. Shotstar returns for another season, and while he did not set the league alight last season, he did well for his first competitive season in hax, and so will hope to build on this. I can't actually recall having seen Skillem play for years; hopefully his play on the pitch is better than his forum posts. Expect Socs to be as friendly as always, and I wish them luck in trying to recapture the form of seasons gone by.
4( Bubblehax - The vast experience of chuckdog and his right hand man deer provided a solid base for the team will seemingly more draft picks then they knew what do do with. Jai was a pick that seemed to do itself, and between him and Iceman the defensive problems of last season hopefully will have been rectified. It's been a few seasons in Premhax since Jai really showed his immense talent but I for one am not forgetting his performances in season 1 which were only beaten by a team of Mad, aeRo, Cacca and BANKS. Iceman is one of the hottest prospects in the league in the GK spot so hopefully he gets enough gametime to prove himself. Kirtio is a player who seems to be rated highly by everyone except me, so I guess he can prove me wrong in saying that his pick in the first round may have been a bit preemptive. Wild seems to have been the youth/potential player for years now, so maybe just maybe this is going to be his season to be part of a really top-tier team. Everyone will agree that his Music Quiz skills are better than his current haxball ability, but maybe under mani Tera will flourish as an attacker. I think what the team may lack is a real goalscoring threat, hence my prediction that they won't make the playoffs this time around.
5(9) Savage Armada - I'm really conflicted about how well this team will do. One one hand you have players like aeRo and Hop who have both proven themselves to be excellent players but I think there may not be enough in this team to challenge the very best in the league. Ozi is a player who I've heard good things about, and Splat is one of the very best rookies that has been recruited into the league. Alvaro I've not seen much of on the hax pitch but seems a sound lad, so what he lacks in captaincy experience hopefully he will make up for in his commitment and attitude. The team is rounded out by the USA duo of El JeFE and Flossy, both names that apparently are up there in the context of the North American SPHB league. While I'd question how they will compete against players of similar skill on considerably lower ping, maybe it is them which will propel the team into the playoffs. aeRo is the best player in the lineup, but his activity and ping problems may blight the team. While this is true, if they do manage to get into the playoffs, then I'd say on their day they can give any team a stiff challenge.
6(10) Sheepshaggers - Last not not least, we have last season's champions. Going into the draft not only without a first round pick but also being at the back of the queue, it was always going to be an uphill struggle for captain Bad. With this taken into consideration, the team he did manage to assemble is actually a fairly good one. Monstah is a good individual player, and while he wasn't around for much of last season, maybe given more responsibility as a starting player will show his talents to the league. shna seems to be a decent player, as does Flashin. Hulk has been on the periphery of UK haxball leagues for a while now, but I for one think he has got potential to be quite a good player. Pizzi and Ryan McCarthy are not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but herein lies the problem I find with the team, that I think if results don't go their way early on, that they might have problems with some of the bigger personalities in the team. I suppose it is a test of not only how much Bad Ass has improved as a haxballer, but also his management skills which at times were questionable last season. Idk, maybe I'm still salty about last season, but I think if any team is to come last in this conference, it seems likely that is will be the Sheepshaggers. Though, as mentioned, if they do manage to get through to the playoffs then I wouldn't be too surprised at all.

1(1) Can't Score - As ever I am not-so-quietely confident about my own teams chances of success this season. I'd have thought not getting drafted would mean you've got a lot of free time on your hands as well no?

Nice work mlf, a very interesting read. It's gonna be a good season, very difficult to predict who will end up where as there are so many even level teams this season.

honestly surprised at how low Sheeps have been rated. Out of all the teams we've played so far in FS they've been the toughest.

@swift I don't think you understand how the play-offs work, from your predictions cant score would face hks in semi-final, meaning only one team can be top 2.
